The Monsoon Club

The Monsoon Club was the conversion of a gallery into a live music performance venue.

The installation is a contemporary reworking of the Shamiana, a tent structure dating from the Mughal Era used for special functions like marriages and feasts.

A three-dimensional carpet made up of four colours of thread is suspended from the ceiling.

The pixellated grid of suspended thread forms a pattern borrowed from traditional ‘dhurries’ and designed to resemble an unravelling loom.
