This typological change then opens up further urban possibilities. At the close of the London 2012 games, the stadium can be turned into a perforated hill, with its top layer and the field around it becoming a public park, and the perforated volumes below seeding a fully functional post-Olympic neighbourhood. Overall, Chu’s project seeks to replace the traditional Olympic Park dotted with defunct stadiums with a new city fabric that is able momentarily to absorb the games, yet is biased towards the long-term cultivation of a cohesive urban fabric.
