In this investigation, we focused on the role of stadium types in London’s 2012 Olympic Bid and more acutely on its post-Olympic performance and redundancy. This investigation challenged the conventional conception of sports structure as an architectural artifacts impregnated with iconic powers that often become redundant after 16 days of frantic use and devoted veneration. As an alternative strategy we used these large types to both seed programmatic potential on the urban scale and to regulate and administer these potentials on an urban plan, thereby pushing the understanding of sports structures as an urban artifact that affect urbanity.
