Teaching, learning and dicovering is key to Serie. Serie's principal, Chris Lee co-founded Diploma Unit 6 in the Architectural Association School of Architecture in 2004 with Sam Jacoby.

For 3 years, Diploma Unit 6 has speculated on the possibility of a renewed relevance of typology as a tool for reasoning and producing an urban plan. At the heart of this investigation is the rethinking of the affect of types beyond their immediate architectural scale, by understanding types as a collective urban entity that holds the potential to seed, differentiate, regulate and administer the urban plan. To work typologically is also to work in a series, harnessing the cumulative intelligence of the type in question and surpassing both its idea and its deep structure
